CMB-GU comprises a number of different research areas that include organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology and dermatochemistry. The scientific infrastructure present in the department provides access to expertise in the areas of organic synthesis, advanced NMR techniques, molecular modeling, pharmacology, molecular biology, cell biology and chemical genomics both in-house and through external collaborators. Lab facilities include modern lab for organic synthesis with all apparatuses needed for conducting state-of-the-art method development. As such, excellent instrumentation for analysis is available at the department and include automated 400 and 500 MHz NMR (also available at the Swedish NMR center located at GU), chiral GC, GC-MS, preparative and analytical HPLC equipment, IR, CD, polarimeter, etc. The department is also equipped with automated synthesizers for library construction and various reactor setups such as microwave reactors.
